About us

A small art studio in the heart of Astoria, NY, run by an enthusiast who loves working with her hands.

Our story

We believe we need the knowledge our ancestors had — the kind that comes from making things yourself. We have materials for jewelry, coasters, candles, paintings, small bags, and whatever else we can create with our own hands.

Most importantly, we have wonderful artists in the studio who share that idea. They bring their own skills, expertise, and artistic vision, and they teach their craft so anyone can learn, create, and connect through making things by hand.

The team

Anna in her studio in Astoria

Anna, founder

Anna founded Mosaic of Ideas in January 2026. She has always loved crafts. Her path to art began after her son was born: first cold-process soap, then arts and crafts projects to engage him, and she ended up engaging herself. Today she runs the studio in Astoria.

Sarah

Sarah, creative instructor

By day, Sarah is a software engineer and technology business consultant. By heart, she's a lifelong artist and creative spirit!

Her love of art began with winning a second-grade art contest and has taken many colorful turns since! Her creative passions include acrylic painting, watercolor, charcoal, sketching, jewelry making, mixed-media crafts, and digital art. Her artwork has even been exhibited in a Harlem gallery!

Sarah has helped establish arts and after-school programs in the Bronx, championed arts and music education during school budget cuts, and shared her love of crafting as a Boy Scout instructor.

Proudly neurospicy and endlessly curious, Sarah loves inspiring children and adults alike to explore their imaginations, experiment with new techniques, and discover the joy of creating.

Her philosophy: Art is for everyone, and creativity has no limits! You can find Sarah's art on Instagram, @matrixmonet

Beth King

Beth King, instructor

Beth leads the studio's Collage Pigeons workshop and will teach Paint and Sip on Fridays. She has been making collages of pigeons out of her love for New York ever since she moved here from California.

Beth studied Illustration & Art Education at Cal State University Long Beach. She spent 2 years teaching K-12 art at an international school in Malawi, Africa before moving to New York City!

She teaches after school classes, private lessons, and even at birthday parties! Outside of teaching, Beth has illustrated 3 children's books and sells prints of her pigeon-themed artwork. You can find more of Beth's art on Instagram, @lovecommabeth

Summer in the studio

Summer

Summer is a multidisciplinary artist and junk journaler located in Astoria, NYC. Summer has been an artist all her life, and is skilled in painting, illustration, and collage. She is always trying new mediums and techniques, and since 2023, she has been an avid junk journaler.

Junk journaling is a sustainable form of art where physical memories, such as packaging, trash, and ephemera, are collected and combined to create art within a journal.

Summer is excited to bring her skills of junk journaling to Mosaic of Ideas through workshops and community journaling events, and hopes you'll join her. You can find more of Summer's art at an upcoming workshop or at her art account, @myrottenfigs
